Aldercar and Langley Mill Parish Council has been in contact with Amber Valley Borough Council for an update on the local recreation parks and we have been advised as follows:
The relevant Officers at AVBC have advised that the initial public consultation has taken place regarding improvements to Aldercar Recreation Ground using Section 106 funding – this is helping shape the specification and is a project due to commence in 2026/27. Once the procurement exercise has commenced and interested suppliers return their designs, further images will be shared and people will be able to vote on their preferred design.
In addition with regards to Queen Street Recreation Ground, further Section 106 funding has been received for this site and it is a project that is planned to progress within the coming years – undoubtedly there is plenty of room to make improvements to this site, however the existing play equipment still has 4 years life expectancy and additional climbing and balancing equipment was added to this site approx. 18 months ago to enhance the play offering. The MUGA court has also recently had basketball/football markings added to the surfacing in the last few months. A similar approach to public consultation mentioned above would take place at the appropriate time this project is ready to commence. In addition, there is a nearby recreation ground located at Lee Lane in Langley, this is one of several sites across the borough that was refurbished 12-18 months utilising UKSPF funding.
